Setayesh Yavari is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science at Louisiana State University. She received her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from LSU in 2025 and her B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology in 2023 (Tehran, Iran). Her research interests include robotics, control, mechatronics, autonomous systems, and machine learning. Her current research focuses on soft and continuum robotics, tendon-driven robotic systems, and optimal control for fast and energy-efficient robotic motion. During her master’s studies at LSU, she developed a soft hexapod robot with tendon-driven continuum legs for internal infrastructure inspection and contributed to the development of a handheld tentacle-like concentric-tube robotic system for structural integrity assessment. She received Second Best Presenter recognition at the LSU MIE Graduate Research Conference and was awarded Best Teaching Assistant of the Semester for the Instrumentation Lab. She currently serves as a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Automation Science.
