Ricki Pierce received her B.S. degree in Biological Engineering with a minor in Robotics from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, in December 2024, funded by the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation. Her experience interning at an orthotics and prosthetics clinic for multiple summers sparked her interest in human movement. She is currently pursuing an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in biomechanics at Louisiana State University, with anticipated graduation in December 2026. Her master’s research focuses on developing methods to estimate ground reaction forces from markerless video-based motion capture and evaluating their potential for biomechanical assessment without traditional force plates. She intends to continue her research at LSU through a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, expanding this work to lower-limb amputees. In addition to her primary research, she has worked for the LSU Department of Kinesiology integrating eye-tracking glasses, motion capture systems, force plates, IMUs, EEG, fNIRS, and custom Arduino-based devices to investigate motor planning and motor execution.
