Hunter Gilbert received the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, in 2016 after completing an National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship from 2016-2019 with support from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Suttgart, Germany. He joined the faculty of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Louisiana State University in 2016 as Research Assistant Professor and then as Assistant Professor in 2017. Since 2023, he is Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. His research and teaching have won several awards, including the DOW Excellence in Teaching Award, Ned Adler Best Teacher Award, and LSU Alumni Association Rising Faculty Research Award. He has served as the Robotics Engineering minor coordinator for the LSU College of Engineering and currently serves as the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program Director. He is a member of both IEEE and ASME.
