Gabriel Pacheco-Ethridge is an undergraduate researcher at Louisiana State University pursuing dual B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Physics with a minor in Robotics Engineering. His research interests span robotics, multimodal perception, embodied AI, human-robot interaction, and autonomous systems, with experience ranging from industrial and mobile robotics to socially assistive and healthcare robotics. In LSU’s iCORE Lab, his primary research focuses on U-Me, a socially assistive robotic platform for person-aware multimodal perception and longitudinal behavioral monitoring. His work has included persistent human-identity tracking, multimodal integration of facial, acoustic, and linguistic information, robot perception, ROS 2 systems integration, mechanical design, and embodied sensing. Beyond U-Me, he has worked on RGB-D visual SLAM and autonomous perception, robotic manipulation and motion planning, embedded health-monitoring systems, and electromechanical prototyping. Gabriel is a 2026 Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Scholar, Barry Goldwater Scholarship Institutional Nominee, LSU Office of Undergraduate Research Project Grant recipient, HSF Scholar, NSF PRISE S-STEM Scholar, and CLA Scholar. His broader research goal is to develop intelligent robotic systems capable of robustly perceiving, understanding, and interacting with people and complex real-world environments.
